At the Lent in the old town centre of Maribor and just in front of the Old Vine House, the oldest vine in the world still grows today.

The Žametovka, also known as the Blue Franconian, is officially over 400 years old and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest vine in the world that still produces noble fruit. Descendants of the Old Vine grow in many places across Slovenia and around the world. The Mond Hotel, where one was planted shortly after the hotel opened, is the only hotel in the world that proudly features a descendant of this famous vine.
