Nova Gorica, the heart of the Goriška region, is also known as the City of Roses, adorned with numerous rose gardens. Among them, the Bourbon rose collection in the garden of the Franciscan Monastery on Kostanjevica stands out as the second largest of its kind in Europe. The rose, a symbol of beauty and love, holds a special place in Nova Gorica—it is even featured in the city’s coat of arms. From 25 April to 17 May 2026, the city will host the 21st Rose Festival.
The festival offers concerts, wine tastings, culinary experiences, artistic and literary events, and many other activities.
