Opening: 12 May 2026 at 6pm
»We are members of the painting section of the KUL-TU-RA Association from Renče. Our gatherings with brushes, colours, and canvases began in 2008. At that time, there were only a few of us, yet in the same year we organized our first exhibition in Renče.
Soon, we felt the need for professional guidance, and academic painter Jana Dolenc joined us. She continues to mentor and guide us to this day. Our journey into painting roses began several years ago, inspired by the blooming Bourbon rose garden at Kostanjevica above Nova Gorica. With permission from the monastery, we held a painting workshop in this garden. Since then, roses have become a special source of inspiration, with their colours and fragrances almost flowing directly onto our canvases.
Under the mentorship of Jana Dolenc, we explore various painting techniques and styles, from impressionism and cubism to more contemporary approaches. For this exhibition, we found inspiration in the unique artist Marc Chagall (1887–1985), a painter of Jewish origin, born in Belarus, who spent most of his life in France. His works often depict moments from his life, enriched with symbolic elements—animals, objects, and people—especially those that deeply touched him.
In our rose paintings, we also sought to weave in personal memories and experiences—whether from childhood, youth, or the present—and express them in a way inspired by the artistic language of Marc Chagall.«
