Kranjska Gora destination

Kranjska Gora is a renowned resort, embraced by the Julian Alps and offering entertainment, sport and recreation throughout the year. The picturesque Kranjska Gora lies in the immediate vicinity of the three borders between Slovenia, Austria and Italy.

The Upper Sava Valley has been known since the antique times as the unique climate health resort thanks to its altitude (810 m above sea level), fresh mountain air and numerous sunny days.

In spite of its position at the heart of the Julian Alps, Kranjska Gora is still very easy to reach. There are three airports (Ljubljana, Klagenfurt and Trieste) near Kranjska Gora. The most distant one is only a ninety-minute drive away.

Each season in Kranjska Gora offers a unique face and charm, attracting numerous visitors from near and far places.

Spring, summer and autumn
In the summertime, Kranjska Gora with its colourful events becomes an excellent starting point for various sports and adrenaline activities or just a place to share good company and relax. It is an excellent starting point for hiking around Alpine forests and surrounding mountains, among which there is Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia. The entire net of mountain trails features almost 150 km of paths, with almost 200 km of marked and well-maintained bike paths intended also for the roller skating enthusiasts.

Through the surrounding forests, over hills and mountains, you can go on a photo safari with a local guide – taking photos of animals living in the Alpine world – with a respectful attitude towards nature and animals you can take unique photos of animals in their natural habitat. You can also go fishing in the nearby rivers and numerous streams, habitats of the famous Soča trout (Marble trout).

Kranjska Gora also takes care of the golf enthusiasts, who have a golf course at their disposal featuring (at the moment) 6 holes, a driving range and a putting green. In future, 9 more holes are planned. Horse and horseback riding enthusiasts can take part in riding courses in the local horseback riding school. The school also organises horseback riding excursions throughout the surrounding forests.
This is the ideal place for sports enthusiasts, who have many opportunities to spend their spare time actively. They can choose:

- the fun bike park for extreme bikers featuring adrenaline descent across springboards, swings and other obstacles
- tennis courts in Kranjska Gora and its surroundings

Children can discover magic places in the Kekec land, the Elf land or on a trip along the paths of the Triglav fairy tales. The youngest can enjoy memorable experiences at the Besna Pehta summer toboggan run and the Bedančeva drča summer toboggan. Kranjska Gora is known not only as a sports holiday destination but also offers numerous fun events at various venues, also in the open air, in summer and in winter.

Besides the sport, the congress tourism has also a long tradition.

Its rich and variegated offer makes Kranjska Gora a perfect destination for physical conditioning and other sports trainings.

Winter
Kranjska Gora is renowned worldwide for its international sports events, such as the Vitranc Cup – Alpine Skiing World Cup and the Ski Jumping World Cup in Planica.
However, these are only two championships among numerous events that variegate the social life in this Alpine jewel during the whole year.

The Kranjska Gora main winter offer comprises various ski slopes, which are adjusted to the beginners and wishes of experienced skiers and snowboarders. Cable railways and ski runs spread from Kranjska Gora to Planica, ranging from 800 to 1,215 m above sea level.

Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy on the snow-covered ski slopes, which are connected with a system of 5 chair lifts and 13 cable railways. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts have 40 km of trails at their disposal, while those who like ice-skating can skate on a specially prepared ice rink. You can experience the unforgettable moments also by climbing up the iced waterfalls, by hiking either day or night across snow covered landscape in snowshoes, and in the panoramic drive with a sledge lead by reindeers across the fabulous snowy landscape.

Those who would like to learn to ski or improve their style can choose among various ski schools in Kranjska Gora, which offer services by qualified ski instructors and the rental of ski equipment. There is a specially adjusted ski slope intended for children, who can make their first steps on skis thanks to the ski slope with a children’s lift and animated runs.
